Apparently, the Rasberry Pi will have twice the graphics performance of the iPhone 4s. Sounds good to me; here it is running Quake 3. Although I’m not entirely sure that we’re comparing Apples to…Apples here – since the Pi runs from mains power, and the iPhone has to worry about battery life, the Pi has a little bit of an advantage in this area. Still, it makes a change from the 500w performance graphics cards in modern desktops.

Can’t wait to start programming some games for it. Could make an affordable little indie console, this…

(That’s about £15 in the Queens English) A tiny, single board computer with a 700MHz ARM processor, capable of running Linux and apparently powerful enough for 1080p video playback. I’m a bit dubious about that last point, but I still think I’ll pick one up to play with. Two versions available; Model A with 128MB RAM and no network jack and the more expensive (or slightly less-cheap at only $35 / £22) Model B with 256MB RAM and an RJ45 jack. I never got round to buying myself an Arduino, but hey, if this does manage HD video playback, I’m sure I could hack together a microscopic HTPC!
